Eritrea is a small country in East Africa that has seen many of it's people move to Manitoba as refugees to escape civil war. Many of these people come to Canada unsure about their rights in the Workplace, being unfamiliar with the culture and the language.
The Eritrean Community in Winnipeg and the Occupational Health Centre collaborated on commissioning this video, which had a mandate to be both informative and inclusive of the many Eritrean cultures that exist. As a result, this program has been produced in the two official languages of Eritrea; Arabic and Tigrigna; with Bilen, Tigre and Kunama incorporated into various sections. It is a culturally rich video, with the music and dress of Eritrea incorporated throughout.
It was officially launched in November of 2007 through various events hosted by the Eritrean Community in Winnipeg.
