  • i had a 4lb chub out of the chesterfeild canal in retford last week

  • @CarpyJosh Hi CarpyJosh that's nice going. We fished a stretch of that canal once but the tow path was so narrow there wasn't room to swing a cat, let alone a fishing rod, but there were plenty of fish in it, and it was a lovely stretch. If you've got any photos let me have em for the website. Follow the link on my channel. Tight lines.

  • with the knotless know i was always told to whip down an the up 2 times, do you know why this is an what it dose?

  • I've no idea - everybody has their own take on the knotless knot. I neve had one come undone, and snap -offs at the knot are rare so i,ve got no reason to change the way I do it. here's some trivia for you - the knotless knot is also known as the snell knot - (google it for similar versions.)

  • whats the difference bettween quickstops and boily stops?

  • HI Matt. Well, they both do the same job, but quick stops are a bit easier for decrepit old gits like me who are always forgetting their glasses. Or for old drunks like two hats who get the DT's. If your young, with good eyesight and tee total - stick to boilie stops! Me - I'm using quickstops. Cheers

  • I went on the trent yesterday but only had got a few skimmers

  • 2 min walk to the trent from retford you must walk bloody quick do you mean the idle

  • Hi Joshyboy, I've never caught a Tench in the Trent, but there are probably a few in the slow moving parts. I'd recommend a nice shady still water, canal or gravel pit for that species - and they love sweetcorn. And remember - you can't fish the Trent until 16th June. Good luck!

  • Hi Joshy - you should give the River Idle at Retford a try then, You can fish it for £21 per year, check out derby county angling club for details. (See our 'Barbel Mission' episode). Cheers, Russ
