Gap years and volunteering

Volunteering during a gap year is a great way to gain vital skills and experience to enhance your CV and boost your chances of finding employment.

After taking a gap year, Nerdy decided to gain experience by volunteering in her local community, including providing sex education with the Terrence Higgins Trust. She's found that the skills she's picked up will stand her in good stead when she attends university and eventually starts looking for a job.

A gap year can be taken anywhere - in the UK or abroad - and there are increasingly more opportunities within the UK, which could be a more affordable option.
