@MrUbuntoogle boot screens are very important, if a system were to even start instanteously i would still put in a boot screen just for the fact that they are your introduction to the operating system, if it wasnt there would people even know they were using ubuntu?
-
i like the idea of this, the stop watch progress bar does give the impression of a slow boot though, but i like the idea of notify osd guiding you through it.
-
@wahtization No, and there's loads of reasons why.
The notifications library are part of GNOME/KDE/etc.
Loading a default desktop environment kind of nullifys the need to switch to another and allows so many more bugs to surface.

loving it!

Couldn't you already do this with Plymouth?

What a waste of resources, which would I want increased time for some stupid animation!
-
No need for a boot screen with 10.04+

Its a mock-up
I wish they would take peoples mockups seriously, ubuntu and other distros desperately need some real designers, which by the amount of great mockups I see, there are plenty willing to help, they just need to accept it.
