The problem was that - unlike Lena Zavaroni - Our Kid's audience was mainly in the working mens club circuit. The hours were late (later than a theatre gig for example) and sharing the bill with others meant that they could not be guaranteed their slot. With adults it makes no difference if they go on at 8 or 11 but with underage performers, that would be illegal. So there was no Transatlantic Big Music Company Conspiracy, just the realities of Saturday nights at Barnsley CIU

It has always been said that Child Working Laws etc put paid to these Lads singing career.
A bit strange this because there were a few other British Child atistes around at the time as well, who carried on.
I have always suspected that maybe some people were afraid that Our Kid might just encroach into and pose a threat to the Jacksons/Osmonds monopoly of this type of act at the time, and pulled a few strings.

Yes, Steve Wright was a pr**k for his unfortunate comments. After all, as Will55768 says, ''they were kids''. When you hear JLS and the likes, I don't think there's much difference when given the the different time era's..Maybe I'm just biased because that was my era and this song brings back good memories etc.
