On March 11, 2011 following a massive earthquake in Japan, a Tsunami made its way across the Pacific and caused damage to boats and docks in the Santa Cruz Harbor.
This video was shot at 12:50 pm from a Robinson R22 from Specialized Helicopters out of Watsonville, CA.
Apologies for how shaky the video is. This was one of my first times shooting video from a helicopter, if anyone wants to donate a Kenyon Labs gyro stabilizer I'm sure my next video would be smooth... like butter!
Can i have permission to use this far away, shaky, zoom crazy footage, pleeeeeease?

@paranoiccritic No problem, from this view I totally understand not seeing much. The entire U dock is missing, and all of it's boats gone. This video someone else shot shows more details from the ground, do a YouTube search for 1MDnlcbRMaQ and it will pull it up. (I can't embed a link in a comment) And those waves kept coming from 8 until late afternoon.

@paranoiccritic I'm sorry the destruction didn't show better from the air in the video, but according to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, the tsunami:
"a forceful shove from the sea sunk 17 vessels and damaged up to 50 more."
"Harbormaster Lisa Ekers pegged damage to harbor facilities, including, docks, pilings and other infrastructure, at $17 million."
"The damage led Gov. Jerry Brown to declare the county a state of emergency that will qualify the county to seek state aid."
