probably much too late to say this, but tenor tends to have a smoother sound than alto for most palyers. however, this sound can easily be achieved to those who enjoy it (eg. i always use this smooth alto tone), however, if you plan to play in this very soft tone all the time, maybe tenor might be a better fit for you
the Eb saxes are usually more crisp and powerful in hits, the alto due to its high pitch and the baritone do to its strong air necessity.
so tenor might be the way to go.
