since you said that you were using a harmonic minor, try playing with the 'root' note 5 steps lower. phygrian dominant sounds a little more egyptian to me.

good call on that! you're right. harmonic minor (in this mode) sounds more bachian than egyptian. it's amazing how much changing the root can do...

it's a hughes and kettner attax 200, 4x12. not an amp i would recommend. it sounds great when you're sitting playing in your room (great chorus channel as well), but if you're playing live it can't cut through anything. it's 200 watts and yet a cymbal crash will make it inaudible. great for recording, though.
