judo (floor work and throws)
kyuktoogi (muaythai +taekwondo)
hapkido (standing locks/ self defense and kicks and hand strikes)
hakko ryu (standing locks and strikes possiblely)
*hakko ryu jujitsu master kang took looks more like aikido, aiki jujutsu, or hapkido.
These are the foundations when created in 1996.
After that, some moves added later MIGHT come from MMA, boxing, catch wrestling (no joke), and maybe bjj although master kang never took it.

the master do not consider this art as mma although many foreigners label it as "korean mixed martial arts". If they are point to the fact that it is a hybrid style, yes. But it is NOT MMA (combat sport)-based art like japanese shooto. The master does not discourage students for participating in mma, he says that Gongkwon is not made solely for mma. It is a form of defense like judo, hapkido, or any other traditional arts.
