  • I have tested combustion of biodiesel in oil lambs I made for my science project submission.. The video on my youtube channel is part of the project if you would like to see how it works.

The video titled "Energy Shift" is the final version.

  • This is only practical with free restaurant oil, but if you buy Vegetable oil for $5/Gallon then buy Methanol for $4/gallon then buy Phosphorus Hydroxide for $2/pound then spend $1 in electric heating it for 2 hours, by the time you're done you've invested $7/gallon for your biodiesel. Regular Diesel sells for $3.10 gallon here in Arizona. It's not really worth the trouble unless fuel prices go over $5/gal.

  • Hi All

I have seen a variety of the videos on Biodiesel production. The process seems to be straight forward, the question I have is what to do with the by products? Some say make and sell soap, well I don't want to make and sell soap. After drying what to do with the soapy water? To me it seems very irresponsible if not leaving yourself open to DNR lawsuits to just pour it down the drain. Any info on this subject?

  • Yes. It's quite a bit higher. I don't have the specifics handy, but it's significantly higher...

  • a cool visualization is pouring gasoline and putting a match to it... it'll catch. than diesel... and it wont catch. this works for petrol diesel. is the flash point a lot higher for biodiesel than petrol diesel?

  • that's true. fuels need to be atomized to be used in engines. that along with a high compression ratio is what makes a diesel engine run. he was more atomizing the fuel than pressurizing it.

  • i did reasearch dude bio disel will be 55Cents a gallon if we use it in the USA

  • These videos rock! What I am wondering is with fuel prices around the $4.00 per gallon mark and still climbing, would making biodiesel be a viable solution for an individual person to do in their own garage considering the processing kits cost a couple thousand dollars.
