  • @RavenRoseMarie Thanks, I'll check out You and I. Bless the Broken Road doesn't work because that brings back bad memories for her. The last person who used that song for her turned out to be her biggest broken road. I plan to put together a wonderful gift for her soon that involves great songs like that, showing her my commitment, love, and intention to stop punishing her for mistakes ex-girlfriends made.

  • @RavenRoseMarie Yeah, she and I made the same promise. It's good that you two realize this and are working on it. Thanks, and I am glad you have found someone as understanding, committed, and wonderful as she is. She is absolutely amazing. We just had another situation yesterday where I overreacted because my past scars started to pull and rip and bleed. Every time I have to enact trust at all, those scars start ripping. She goes out of her way to make sure I know I can trust her

  • @ripkenfan86 PS. there is an old song about commitment though troubles that I really like. its a duet with crystal gayle & eddie rabbit - "you and I". there is also a newer song by rascal flats called bless the broken road. I used the song "broken road" as my wedding march. both (or either) would clearly tell of your commitment to your woman.

  • @ripkenfan86 I know about the "punishing". It helps that we made and keep the promise to never go to bed angry at each other. After every argument (and there have been some bad ones) we always talk about why we reacted the way we did. It not only helps the other understand what was said but it also shows were we are taking the past out on the present. Good luck. It sounds like you have found someone as understanding and commited as my husband is if she can appreciate what this song says.

  • @RavenRoseMarie Actually, this song is perfect for me, because it is me that was hurt by the woman before the woman who had me to listen to the song, but you're right. It can work for both sides. The genders are not as different as we want to think sometimes. The hurt may never go away, but just remember not to punish your mate for sins they didn't commit. That's my struggle now. I've been listening to this song at least once a week now, just as a reminder.

  • @ripkenfan86 Amen. and although this is sung from a woman's point of view; the words hold true for both sides. My husband and I both had terrible relationships in the past and even though we've been married for 2 years now there are still moments when those relationships come out to haunt us. sometimes I wonder if it will ever completely go away.

  • @barbidoll0 This was sent to me by someone very special to me. Our relationship is complicated right now, to say the least, but there's no doubt in either of our minds that we will end up together in the long run. I'm one of those guys that was ripped apart by women in the past. To all of you women who are struggling with a man whose past pain keeps interfering, don't give up on him. It's excruciating for him, but if he is still with you, he's trying, and I promise if he's trying, he's worth it.
