The pub that inspired the Elton John song "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" is the Aston Arms in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, England. Lyricist Bernie Taupin spent his teenage years in the near-by village of Owmby-by-Spital, attending school and church in Market Rasen. Although there was a pub much closer to Owmby, the Aston Arms became Bernie Taupin's favorite pub because it was a safe distance from home.
My uncle used to be the landlord of this pub a few years ago (late 70's early 80's) and i remember him telling me this. he used to lock up on a Saturday night, go upstairs for his tea and watch the fights while he was eating. Sounds better than watching the X Factor doesn't it!

She makes Rasen sound way more glamorous than it actually is. Living there was like a slow death!

Why does this video mention Taupin's attending church in Rasen?? It seems so out of character to the song and the rest of the presentation.
