June 1995
Cambodia badly needs international support. Tourists are starting to return to the beautiful ancient temples in the north of the country - until now Khmer Rouge raids made this impossible for foreigners. The Khmer Rouge are being pushed back into the jungle and their leadership is growing old. Some supporters defected after they were ordered to burn villages in which they had relatives. In the south the government has persuaded a senior guerrilla commander to defect with several hundred fighters. In return it has turned a blind eye to his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of three Western hostages. Life with the government is better, but not yet perfect. Cambodia's deputy prime minister admits that the corruption is a problem.

It's always the same. The Khmer Rouge leaders get welcomed to take up high government positions. This guy was associated with kidnapping, murder, and was a Khmer Rouge leader. Now he switched sides? Corruption and evil always goes rewarded in Cambodia. And plus, to the narrator, you are not interpreting correctly.

what you can see is that so many people still know nothing or less about our country or people. red (rouge) khmer=khmer?
red (rouge) is a political description for communist/communism. so you can say red khmer=red cambodian BUT NEVER red khmer = khmer
NEVER!
