David Gilmour "Black Strat" Replica Project Video by Jon Schneck

Here is a video of my Dark Side of the Strat, "Black Strat" Project. Finding that the price of the Fender reissue was quite high, my friend Eric and I turned my American Vintage 57 reissue into Gilmours famous "Black Strat." I made a hybrid of his Relic and NOS model, using vintage plastic parts. I will relic the nitro body and neck naturally while on the road with my band, Relient K. All Duncan pickups, SSL-5, SSL-1 rw/rp, and SSL-1. 1-ply super thick acrylic pickguard w/ recessed neck selector switch. All vintage correct appointments. I know this is not EXACT, but it is my take on the guitar, using some of my own preferences. It sounds great plugged in... This guitar will see a lot of playing time! I am going to change out the tone caps to a .05, and add a treble filter to the volume pot. Check our website, www.relientk.com for tour dates and come see it live! you screw 4 wires to the body is that some kind of groundwire like the one you normaly solder to the Tremolo claw?

A guy at a Guitar Center here in Des Moines tried to tell me that Gilmore's tremolo probably does go out of tune, and he uses a computer program to keep his guitar in tune. I don't know, maybe he thought I was an idiot. I just couldn't believe the ignorance.

Gilmours guitar has a 57v from 1983 neck which is C shaped.... Not V shaped.
