In this video we demonstrate using a Scanfob 2002 wireless laser barcode reader that can read barcodes 200 times per second. The Scanfob reader is used with Grid-In-Hand™ Mobile Grid app running on a Nexus S Android phone.
Compile your ticket data into an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file, upload using iScanList.com and then download directly to the mobile phone. Download can be done on WiFi or on 3G if you choose to activate the phone. There is NO PHONE CONTRACT needed to use this solution.
Mobile Grid app setup for ticket check-in is fast and easy. Enable the Attendee check-in, assign the notification sounds for ticket barcode scanning -- one sound for valid ticket, one for duplicate ticket, and one for ticket not found. Then tap Update Roster, to get the list of tickets onto the mobile. Since data is stored on the mobile, ticket checking is instantaneous without the need for any network, so you don't need to worry about the network going down during your event check-in.
To check the tickets, simply scan them when presented by attendees. When the same ticket -- or a duplicate -- is scanned again the system will notify the user both visibly and audibly. When check-in is done, data can be uploaded immediately or when a network connection is available.
