Today on Hellbound

Yes, another awesome SHMUP from Akira Hut Original, the makers of Galshell.
This was my last playthrough of the game. I made it to stage four and then the game just ended without me going to the final fifth stage. It just tallied up my score and gave me extra points for my lives and that was that. Wierd, since I'm pretty sure I don't have a demo. Maybe you can only get to the last stage on the hardest difficulty. Will try again someday when I'm not so busy.

So a bit about this game. The game has 4 characters...2 girls, 2 guys.. each with there own way of shooting(ex..character three has homing shots).
Also the gameplay is simple with the game only using one button and a directional pad. Pressing the button fires your weapon and releasing it flashes your shield for like a second.
The shield will not just block fire but also reflect it back at your opponent for big damage. The shield is kinda slow to recharge with all the fire the game thows at you but it's not to hard. Also I like the point system in this game. Killing an enemy turns them and there bullets into coins. The bigger enemies will give you bigger coins and picking an enemy apart piece by piece as opposed to going straight for the big kill will net you even more big coins and, of course, even more points. Also there are the the green points that fly by you can collect. Collecting them consecutively will change them to bigger points. It goes from 100 to 3200 but I'm pretty sure I've seen a 6000 so I maybe wrong about that.
Anyway, great character designs and fun gameplay...and it's free! Total win!


edit: Having played the game more on hard mode the Green points definitely get bigger. So far I'm seeing a max of 10000.

This is a free computer game made by Akira Hut Original. Google them and you should find it. I would love to have a cart of this for my snes though. That would rock!

Difficulty level determines how far you can make it. You can get to level 3 on easy, 4 on normal, and 5 on hard. The bonuses also have smaller caps on lower difficulty levels, as you've observed. Glad you like the game though. I'm a big fan myself. Wish it had a sequel!

Yes, you can only access the 5th level on Hard mode. And the level seems to revolve around a giant multi-part boss, which I haven't yet defeated.

The bonuses max out at 10,000 points on Hard. But those bonuses become REALLY important just to keep enough lives to make it from level to level. This game is brutally difficult on Hard.
