I'm just wondering the boys in the somali community have been given such acceptance to be part of the society we live in but what about the girls. I'm a girl and yes , somali baan ahay lakiin what happens when i want to play football. There are no somali tournaments for me to attend. I have no choice but to go to the non somali teams. I play for a team with about 30 girls who play in two divisions. Only me and another is somali.Some say that i shouldn't be playing aT all!thx4t

Hey sister, i just wanted you to know there are many Muslim women who play sports even professional, don't give up on your dream. Islam celebrates women with respect. You can do anything, As a fellow Somali, i love my culture and people but we all know when it comes to sports Somali girls are not supported as much as Somali boys, this is only Culture, and not religion at all. Like i said before Islam gave you freedom and don't EVER give up on your dream & God bless : )

With all due respect, your comment to the young lady is quite rude and very uneducated What do you mean " you shouldn't play because of your religion and culture" You sound like you never read the Qu'ran and actually understood it. I have studied the Qu'ran and still is, i cant find where it says Boys can play sports but girls cant. Islam is the only religion that gives women freedom and respect.
