On Sept. 20, 2009, Michigan State University held its First Annual Hoophouse Gala, a harvest dinner that raised $16,470 to create scholarships for the training and education of a next generation of Michigan's organic farmers. Nearly 200 guests were presented with Michigan wines and five-course meal prepared by MSUs award-winning Spartan chefs and showcasing products of Michigan farms. Supported by MSUs Division of Residential and Hospitality Services, the Gala was held on the grounds of the MSU Student Organic Farm.
