  • how much did it cost for you to make this??

  • @ninjazombie221 I bought the blower from a friend (and less than what it was worth). Expect to pay around $150 for a similar blower. The brake drum was free from another friend who I traded a tool. You might could get one at a junk yard. The parts I did buy was the 1 inch black pipe for legs, 3/4 inch pipe connector (with the threads ground out for a slip fit), 2 inch pipe for the air connection and flexible exhaust pipe. I did my own welding. Maybe $30.00 for everything.

  • It is possible to weld cast iron, a friend of mine welded up a cast iron ratchet cover for me awhile ago. I don't remember how he did it but it's still strong as can be.

  • @SuperKONR Yes it is possible to weld cast iron but the problem lies in heating the object. Unless the entire object to be welded is heated to a high enough temperture stress fractures will occur. The mass of my brake drum is too great for the equipment I have for welding. It is possible to braze cast iron with brass rod but it is a speciality skill. Cast iron welding rods are made for gas welding but again calls for special equipment and skill.

  • @jonneyj Will do when I get a chance.

  • Thanks for the ideas for the legs and stand. I've built a similar setup but haven't decided how to mount legs on the cast iron dump truck forge I got!

  • @RancidSka1 It's called a hand cranked forge blower. You can find them on Ebay and Amazon. Expect to pay around $100 - $150 for one similar to mine. You can find them smaller (and hopefully cheaper) but most are old so will have lots of wear on them and might need parts to work efficiently. Mine could use new gears to quite it down.

  • @HWPcville what are they hand air blower thing called ??

  • @mack3dg Thank you for your suggestion. There was oil in the blower. The camera was very close to it so it exaggerated the noise. However, it has quieted down with recent use.

  • man can you put some kinda oil on that fucking nasty looking thing you call blower...

  • Wow fail I thought it didn't post my first comment sorry :p
