You will have to pay to see the rock up close but I suggest that you save you money and watch this video. The rock is not much of a sight and what I am showing is all that there is to see - you can see panoramic vistas all over the place. The town of Blowing Rock, however, is a great place to visit.

  • Here's my advice.....DON'T LET THE SCREEN DOOR HIT YA WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YA! If ya don't like it then don't come the Hell back, it'll make one less pretentious yankee in my mountains. In my honest opinion I believe they should rip up the walkways, and wall the damn thing off. As Teddy Roosevelt once said 'Leave it be! The hands of man can only mar the natural beauty.".

  • My wife and i paid the six dollars (12 total) this past week on our honeymoon. we both thought that the blowing rock was worth the money. you need to watch the video that I have attached to this one as a video response. We have a slightly more positive outlook on the experience.

  • im going there tomorrow and i still plan on paying my piddly little $6 so I can see the wind blow straight up.

  • Blowing Rock is named as such not because it looks like the rock has been "blown" but because of the natural phenomenon that rarely occurs, but occurs here. The winds actually blow straight upwards. The "story that goes along with it" is centered around idea of winds blowing upwards. I felt it was worth coughing up a couple bucks to see a natural wonder that you probably will never see anywhere else.

  • Thanks for sharing. How nice, I was there on vacation a few years ago but did not see the rock itself. I loved the music you used for this video. I am a pianist :)) it may explain it.

  • ok giggleshits1 you have no personality

  • dude, you obviously have no appreciation for the awesomeness of nature. What kind of natural wonder DO you find extraordinary? If you had any interest in geological changes you'd understand how truly awesome the Blowing Rock actually is. You think your video is more interesting than the rock? Why, because you can hear yourself speak? Do you have any idea how much work went into building the trails up to that rock which you find so uninteresting?

  • You're crazy. It's worth the money.
