I would consider all their albums from A Blaze In The Northern Sky to Sardonic Wrath black metal. They still have some black metal elements in terms of Teds guitar style on The Cult Is Alive, or even on certain parts of Dark Thrones And Black Flags even if they are not actually black metal. I mean they are obviously influenced by punk and NWOBHM a lot, but that said ive never heard those kinds of bands play riffs in the way Darkthrone do, in terms of picking style or whatever.

O, i dont mean that they abandoned all of their black metal, but its covered up by their new sound a bit too much. I'm not the biggest fan of genre mixing (i despise deathcore) but, some bands o it well. I just think that Punk and Black metal and NWOBHM are a bit hard to mix and make everyone happy.

Well, I'm certainly not a fan of deathcore! Terrible contrived rubbish. I dunno, if you consider that earlier black metal artists had some punk influence, such as Cronos (Sex Pistol/Sham 69) and Quorthon (GBH) its possible, although it would fare less well if mixed with 90's black metal I suppose. I think they do it well, although I suppose its an aquired taste. I still prefer their earlier death and black metal periods of course, but I love all their stuff.

Yeah, i mean, i dont Hate their new stuff, i just think its not as good as their old stuff. After all, its impossible to recreate something better than A blaze in Northern Sky or Under a Funeral Moon. I dont mind punk in metal too much (grindcore does it fairly well), just if it takes away from the overall sound and appeal then i kind of have an issue with it (deathcore).
