The Radia tapes controversy relates to the telephonic conversations between Nira Radia, a professional lobbyist and acquaintance of then Indian telecom minister A. Raja, with senior journalists, politicians, and corporate houses, taped by the Indian Income Tax Department in 2008-09. The tapes led to accusations of misconduct by many of these people. Nira Radia runs a public relations firm named Vaishnavi Communications,[3] whose clients include the Tata Teleservices and Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries.
In November 2010, OPEN magazine[8] carried a story which reported transcripts of some of the telephone conversations of Nira Radia with senior journalists, politicians, and corporate houses, many of whom have denied the allegations. The Central Bureau of Investigation has announced that they have 5,851 recordings of phone conversations by Radia, some of which outline Radia's attempts to broker deals in relation to the 2G spectrum sale.[10] The tapes appear to demonstrate how Radia attempted to use some media persons to influence the decision to appoint A. Raja as telecom minister.

  • Hahaha..

She never intended to carry the msg.. she was just stringing Radia along..

but then she thought let me just try calling.. once.. no maybe twice.. heck, I can't reach him.. then she thought to herself, oh shit, I forgot, I am only role playing - I shouldn't actually carry the msg..

  • Now Rajdeep Sardesai is criticizing Open magazine for not taking permission from Barkha before publishing those reports. Rajdeep is now raising 'larger' questions of corporate interference in politics. He is now shifting the debate from media scrutiny to corporate scrutiny. But never Rajdeep questions Barkha for not reporting such a important story of a lobbyist interfering in cabinet minister selection? Is Rajdeep trying to hide something? Or just that both are cozy with Congress, so the favor?

  • Entire NDTV is financed by Congress party funds. Check their finances. They make losses of crores every year. Their income does not come from usual streams.

  • lmao. i just wonder how much does dilip cherian owe barkha dutt financially or otherwise to make him blabber such complete crap.
