PlusWas Boy Scout's Camp 'Prepared' for Twister? Was Boy Scout's Camp 'Prepared' for Twister? The Associated PressQuestions are being raised about why the Boy Scouts did not have a shelter at a western Iowa camp that was hit by a tornado. Four teen scouts were killed and 48 others were injured by the twister. (June 13)NATS UP frightened Boy Scouts sought shelter as a tornado approached their western Iowa campground. 12:37:44when we were running back to get in the shelter, that's when the tornado hit and we had to lay in the ditch. that's when the tornado passed over us. It was very quick. This Scout Supervisor said a tornado siren went off at the camp Wednesday night, but it only gave them little warning. 93 teenage campers and 25 staff members were attending a weeklong leadership training camp when the storm hit. 12:36:37there wasn't a lot of time to get people to the shelters, it was very short. Four teenage boys, who sought shelter in a cinder block building, were killed when the tornado leveled it... And nearly fifty others were injured. As soon as the strong winds stopped, this scout volunteer and others rushed to their aid. Now, questions are emerging about whether the Scouts should be better prepared in the event of a tornado.12:42:02I wish there could have been some place to go, there should have been some type of shelter b/c these cabins didn't have a chance. 12:56:33SOT: THE WEATHER HAS ALWAYS BEEN BAD AND NOT TO HAVE AN AREA WHERE KIDS CAN GO, ITS INASNITY. FATHER The 18-hundred acre ranch north of Omaha was destroyed. Searchers were planning to make another pass through the grounds to make sure no one else was hurt. But its believed that everyone who was at the camp has since been accounted for. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

  • @packrellerey naah

  • @doubleaamazin Actually, it's just "Be Prepared."

  • You know it has been 2 years since this happened and I was working a cub scout day camp when it happened, I am an Eagle Scout as of 2010 and I know people will call me gay and a girl scout or even a p***y but you know what even if you call us that we don't care cause we will be better than you anytime. Sorry to the families and everyone else from Troop 139

  • Try to meet hot Russian women online now gettop5.info

  • I can't point to an example of a tornado shelter or warning system within several miles of my home, there is no tornado shelter at my kid's school, at my work, or at our church....and yet a primitive camp in the woods was supposed to somehow exceed the standards of all these others? REALLY?!

  • tragic. My heart goes out to the families and fellow scouts of the ones killed.

  • Its sad to think about the frightened boys during the tornado. Very Devastating and Very,Very Sad. :( I'm A Boy Scout Myself And at least the scouts are in a better place now. Very Tragic. For The Families,I'm Sorry for your loses.

  • So if it looks like rain we should have been in a underground bunker?

Thats about what it would have taking. Little Sioux is a 30 almost 40 year old camp. Also plans were being finshed to do a major upgrade to the camp. And shold all campshave a undergrund bunker for anthing then? State parks? Your home?

  • my heart goes out to the familys... such a tragedy and it happens so fast. We were at camp last week in Clare MI. They have a siren and a tornado shelter there. We were required to participate in one drill within 24 hours of arriving at camp.

    Scary stuff...

    God Bless,

    Chris Larabell
