This is a story about homelessness, mental illness, perseverance, and the power of community. Caleb had a great job as a paramedic. But because Caleb suffers from depression, and he felt embarrassed and ashamed, he ran as far as he could from his family. The journey took him to Seattle where he learned about the Seattle Tent City model. When he had to relocate back to Ann Arbor, he based a new tent city off the Seattle model and named it "Camp Take Notice". I love the name because we should take notice. Not all tent cities are like this, but I have seen a few examples of community that are amazing. Homeless people taking care of homeless people, and in many cases, better than what social services could do.

I have a lot of respect for Caleb. He is brilliant and I believe genuinely cares for others.

  • Tent cities are great ideas community is great and not all about money more about people getting along understanding one another. Another reason I recommend a scooter Affordable to insure fuel maintain increase your range and they are known to be reliable they are great to get you to a quieter camp site. Ideal site would be near a decent water source plenty shade but with sun for recharging fon etc. And near a library with cell fon reception.

  • Sad...Priorities of this nation have been hijacked with a war mongering spirit...The pain this Nation inflects on people as a whole...Still people dance with the stars...America lost Killed by T V ...So very sad...Millions of home's setting empty that the tax payers paid for and yet we are conditioned to believe living in a tent is not so bad..? WoW this social engineering stuff works..!

  • @123MIURA Most of us are asking the same exact question! Most of us also know where all the money goes. We send billions and billions of it to other countries. We also fund wars we across the globe we have no business being involved in or starting. We also have a huge illegal alien issue with our southern border and we spend 1 million a day just to feed the illegals we have in jail for crimes. Billions more of it goes to feed, house, and educate their family and reward them for being criminals.

  • Its true what he says that he would rather be disfunctional where no one knows who he is ...call it indenial but its also a guys visual and emotional psychology. Tolerance comes from excepting... they are there experiencing

  • There is no doubt in my mind that this guy is extremely intelligent.

  • @RETIREMESOON oh yea for sure. Let's free the World at all cost!

And those who disagree with the system, go and live in a tent.

ehhh I don't get it. It could be such a nice planet to live on and look what we did...

  • @123MIURA WAR IS EXPENSIVE !!!!!!

  • If we keep rolling downhill, I feel alot of us will see ourselves in this mans eyes and hear our stories in his. Community, Unity & Love. ♥ :DDDD

  • The well run tent cities kind of remind me of tribal people living together to help each other survive. Maybe its the outside setting? But, I also think its people who have very little banding together to help make a community.

  • Sadly, there is no assembly jobs any more as we need to bring back manufacturing in America to get everyone working. Sadly he is very educated as he should be able to get a job with college background. Higher education is the way out of poverty.

  • im from a2, i have seen many homeless people on the intersection of us23 and plymouth road if you want to find more people
