Joyce DiDonato as Vitellia in Mozart's La Clemenza Di Tito. Recorded in 2002 with Eric Hoeprich on clarinet and Frans Bruggen conducting. This recording is really the best recording of this aria I have heard. She conveys the angry, regretful, and retrospective sides of the aria to perfection while maintaining a even tone and volume throughout her range. Almost every single singer in the aria, mezzo or soprano, with the exception of Kasarova, cannot hit the low G with an even tone but Joyce simply nails it!

Joyce never ceases to amaze me...

There are a couple of Mozart operatic arias that are fiendishly difficult for their demands of a huge vocal range, and this one is among those.
Cosi fan tutte's Come scoglio is another.

@primohomme Oh, yeah. I think she could too.

@primohomme
omg I have to listen again to this aria in order to hear whether she can hit the low G3 or not :))) Vitellia and Sesto are better tranquilizers than Stedon!

She certainly could, I think she could even sing the high D in the terzetto

Okay, it probably wouldn't be good for her voice or her career as a whole, but now I really want Joyce to sing the complete role. It would be very interesting, that's for sure....

Was this from a concert or something? I didn't think she had sung the whole role, just Sesto....
