  • @SamHagagaga I'm right there with ya. It's the only issue on the right I can think of that I support. I just hate the way they go about doing it. I'd love to have some sensible representation of gun rights on the left... dream on...

Plus, I can't stand the thought that all the teabagging psychos out there are the only ones who are armed. Jeez, if that thought doesn't send shivers down a liberals spine, I don't know what does.

  • I'm a pro-gun liberal. I support this.

  • @MarineShape175 Well, wiether you support something or not is you're own business. But as I have said, there ARE mandates on certain things, like it or not. So complaing about it doesn't do a damn bit of good. You don't have to like it, but it can happen, as in this case. You can always argue the nature of how it's enforced, as would I. But saying you can't mandate something is complete and utter bullshit.

  • @MarkCrimson Okay, let me break this down:

1.) You have every right to compare the two, never said you didn't. What I said was your comparison was absurd, and it was.

2.) What you just stated in the comment above is called a "straw man" argument. You made up an answer for conservatives that is NOT true. I am a conservative (on most issues) and I would NOT support a government mandate forcing citizens to own guns. Most conservatives I know would be VERY against that, if not all.

  • @MarineShape175 I have every damn right to compair the two. The fact that if it became 'mandatory' to own a gun, NO conservitive would raise a stink about. They would call it a 'patriotic duty'. But yet, tell them they have to have health insurance, and suddenly the world is coming to an end. It's a double standard. I relize that being forced to buy from untrustworthy companies is not welcoming. But I'm talking about the double standard they have. I have every right to do so.

  • @MarkCrimson Dude, my god, I was commenting on your comparison between guns and healthcare. I'm not getting in a healthcare debate with you. YOU compared guns to healthcare and it was a pitiful ridiculous comparison. One was a mandate (healthcare), the other was about an optional right (guns). I'm commenting on your comparison, I'm not debating you about fucking healthcare. Why are you so quick to assume I'm against universal healthcare?

  • @MarineShape175 The you don't seem to be broken up about many states mandating that you have car insurance before you can start driving on the roads. Same deal, you HAVE to have insurance before they'll let drive. You have to be prepaired before you drive a dangerous vehicle, dealing with all the other drivers. They force that, you MUST have insurance. Tell me why THAT is okay, but not health insurance. Again, important point, healthcare INSURANCE. That's the point YOU'RE missing.

  • @MarkCrimson you completely missed my point. Whether or not someone if FOR or against healthcare mandates is besides the point. What I was pointing out is that your comparison of the two makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. Conservatives aren't for mandating guns. They are for giving everyone the choice to own or not to own. Mandating healthcare is forcing everyone to get healthcare or else get a fine. You cannot compare they two, one is forcing, and one is giving someone the choice.

  • @MarineShape175 No, you're still wrong. For one, this was always about INSURANCE, not how healthcare is administered. Two, people SHOULD have insurance. That's the point of it. You never know when something bad is going to happen. Save guarding lives are important, and not every threat can just be shot away. Having insurance should be manditory. Only thing I DON'T like is soulless corperations dictating what insurance you can and can't have.

  • @MarkCrimson Wow you are a moron. No one is "mandating" all people buy a gun. All citizens should have the option to own (or not own for that matter) a gun. Conservatives are against healthcare being mandated because it gives people no choice to refuse it. Absolutely horrible comparison.

  • I'm not at all against a citizenry trained to use arms to fight for their country, to protect their homes, and their government. I want to learn to use firearms and other forms of weapons, in fact. But the government has the discretion to restrict gun rights from felons, violent individuals, and other types of people who are obviously risks.

Conservatives say, "Gun control only keeps guns from law-abiding citizens." Well, I say only put gun control against citizens who don't abide by the law.
