Michie Koyama quickly moved into international competition, winning third place at the 7th Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in 1982, followed by a fourth place award in the 1985 Chopin International Piano Competition. She was the first Japanese pianist to receive awards at both of these major competitions. Her talents continued to win competition honours as Ms Koyama was given the 12th Chopin Association Award in 1986.

  • For all of who bash her talent, I'm a 16 year old concert pianist and it took me 6 months of countless of practice to play this. It's insane, and if you want to bash her, put your own vid of you playing it perfectly. Otherwise let's support people with a passion for an instrument like this. It takes dedication!

  • this small letters in a screen is a translation for her language?

  • Za dobra jest :-) za szybka za zdecydowana, brak tajemniczości, tyle.

  • @lugio1981 Probably just the stage.... Ever think about that?

  • I was listening to this song on my piano and played it the same time as this video and noticed that she went too fast but other than that she was right on!!!!

  • omg!!! amazing!! my friend plays this piece on the piano and the first time i've heard it he left me completely speechless..

  • I think I just choked on pedal. Haha. Her talent is a-m-aFREAKINGzing though.

  • too flat....lack of emotion, and too much pedal

  • @PianoCriticsKiller I said "Mistaaake!" - that means - mistake. She could be a robot, but mistake will stay mistake. I'm not saying that She's bad - cause She's really good. You think that She was working at this etude for her entire life? She red this just after seeing the notes. It's not that hard as You think. Maybe You'll write - "So play it buy Yourself if it's so easy" - for Your knowledge, i've already done this. Critisise everybody -Don't You have a life? Don't care Hate and be hated.
  • people and their critical bullchit and they can't even play themselves. you have no idea how many countless hours, and hard work she put into this etude. if you don't like this video, don't watch it. i bet all the critics have been here several times because this profound talent on her part.
