Jamaica, Vermont and the surrounding area experienced serious flooding as a result of Hurricane Irene. This short video shows the Route 30 bridge in Jamaica Village, along with the washed out parking lot and driveway of the Jamaica Fire House. Further in the video, you can see the destruction along Water Street in Jamaica, where much of the road and several houses were washed away.

Just came back from camping at Jamaica State Park for the week. Was considering canceling but visited the Vermont Official website and the Governor said not to cancel vacation plans as so many depend on the tourist dollars. So we cam and I am glad we did. Was heartbreaking to see all the devastation but heartwarming to see how the community pulled together and worked together. They built a road there in 2 days that would take the area I'm from 10 years to decide on and build. Way to go Jamaica.

If you're in touch with her, please let her know that Doug (Wallace's grandson) and his daughter Ashley (me) have been thinking about your family so much and hoping that everything is okay. If there is any way at all that we can help, please let us know. I don't know if the house is still there, but we would be honored to help your grandparents get back on their feet either way.

We just sold our house in Jamaica but our hearts still live there! We are heartbroken but so proud to see the crews of volunteers working so hard to keep things together. No waitin on Fema for Vermonters! Hope Tom and Nancy and Elwood are ok and that everyone on Pikes Falls and West Jamaica road came through safely.
