  • How can you disagree with that. Managers that don't manage. Join TheArtofKelso

  • I wonder if the ol' Mayor is still in love with David Gunn now? After he slapped him over the head with a big dose of the truth........cough, cough.....burying the Eglinton LRT is ridiculous....cough........

  • some of that $275,000, 000 surplus should help

  • the culture at the ttc is rotten. entitlements a plenty. Rob you're right the managers aren't effective but that doesn't give the front line worker the right to take unauthorized breaks, sleep on the job, be absolutely miserable to patrons etc.. One thing we will agree on is Adam Giambrone and the TTC commissioners have been an absolute disaster as leaders.

  • Okay, let's officially make the transit system an organized charity! As I said in my statements I do not support those workers who fail to do their job to the best of their abilities and I, as a hard and honest worker have had an accident in my 20 years and lost 3 days of wages for breaking a mirror on the bus. Though you have the idea that there is no recourse to our actions there is. The negative side is that discipline seems to stop at the drivers and not maintenance or other departments.

  • Oh, gee, I wonder what happens when that supervisor or manager tries to punish a driver? Do you think the union says "You're right!" and let's him take a punishment? Not a chance...

  • I will be the first to admit that there are more than a few employees within the TTC that fail to do their job to the best of their ability and I am extremely resentful that my union dues support those that make that personal decision every day that they will not take pride in their work. For if they did they could go home at the end of the day and feel good about themselves and maybe pass that virtue on to their children. Cleaners and maintenance included.

  • The TTC continuously cries lack of funding and budget shortfalls but insist on running it as a charity! Drivers are fed up with the lack of enforcement and support from the Commission that fails to inform the public of the proper fare procedure leaving the drivers to look like the bad guy by actually requesting someone to pay for the service! There are two sides to the coin!

  • Thank you for the support! David Gunn was excellent he was fair but didn't put up with laziness! He would make surprise appearances throughout the system any time of the night and fire those caught sleeping in the maintenance department!

Problems between the union and management began in the early 90's when drivers were being discouraged by management to enforce payment of fares in fear that the public might be "offended". This began a great animosity between the two parties.
