Steven Hu, a Junior representing the negative team of policy debate at Palo Alto High School demonstrates "spreading", otherwise known as speed-reading of debate arguments. Hu's team was negating the case, "The United States' Federal Government ought to substantially reduce its military presence in South Korea, Japan, Kuwait, Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan" by making an argument that the military preserves capitalism, thus the only alternative would be to destroy capitalism.
