David Marsh fly's the maiden flight on his E-flite Carbon-Z Yak-54 BNF. David kept everything stock and used the flight battery pack that came with the model. David set up the throws and Expo as stated in the manual.

Prior to flight the motor mount was inspected. The mount installed on the fuselage was to found to be identical to a replacement E-flite motor mount ordered along with the Yak. The installed replacement mount and the mount installed on the fuselage did NOT come with orange washes, but silver metal washers. All mounting screws were found to be secure.

The stock prop required very little effort to balance and was used for the flight. The spinner back plate was not found to be distorted.

Purpose of the flight was to quickly take it up and get a "feel" of the plane. Winds at the time of flight were approx. 15 mph+.

Filmed on 2 September 2011 at the Minot Aircraft Modelers flying field that is located just North of Minot, North Dakota.

  • Will he be doing any 3D or just scale flight eventually ?

  • @fisherboom Dave just really learned to fly this year. As I understand by talking to him he does plan to learn some 3D figures, but as of now he is taking it easy. Give him so time and he will be trying to "fly it like he stole it"... has has just been flying a few months and he maidened his 50cc Yak-54 yesterday! I'll post that video soon.

  • smooth first maiden gratz.

  • @bloodhound122 Thanks, I will make sure Dave sees your comment.
