I got an "old" New Home treadle machine. But it's missing the two little sets of drawers on each side. It has a decorative box thing on top of it. I use it for a phone stand

Just wanted to note that there is a big difference between antique collectible and sewing value. Theolder machines with all metal parts (prior to plastic) were made to last and will do heavy duty jobs. It's a shame that sewing is becoming a lost art.

Give me the vintage and the antiques. I learned on an antique Singer 22 drop bobbin. Currently use a Singer clone from the 50s, and hopefully be getting back my White model A out of storage soon. I might be an exception, but I preferr the oldbies. They are reliable, and will not wear out from plastic parts.

Great info on sewing machines but, remember, the old ones were made with all metal gears and parts, thus, built to outlast anything made currently.

Still making Featherweights...old sewing ladies never pass away, they just keep you in stitches.

Hi Blake - Your video clip very interesting - do you know anything about The Peerless sewing machine White - Ohio dated 1881 - for example how many were produced - I recently purchased one and its just adorable. Years ago I found a Featherweight sewing machine and can understand why they hold their value. This Peerless machine seems special - do you regard it as a special machine? Thanks
