The ethereal Emmylou and the sassy Bonnie R. Wow! After Lowell, LF and BR seriously considered joining up. It seemed like a good match, but I never thought they jelled,. They eventually became a better band on their own.

Trust me, everybody in the United States under 40 knew the lyrics to "Dixie Chicken" in 1977, certainly including Harris and Raitt. They were mostly there for the visuals, though, and Emmylou was almost impossible to top in that department at the time. I used to think she was too thin but now I gape in awe, wondering what I was thinking.
