Todos los años en los primeros dias del mes de julio, esta ciudad se viste de Caribe y recibe multiples delegaciones culturales de los paises de la zona. Este año el 3 de julio comenzó aquí el Festival Internacional del Caribe que reunió a más de 2 mil invitados de una veintena de paises.
Cada año la edición del Festival es dedicada a un pais de la región y en esta ocasión ese reconocimiento fue para la República Dominicana.
El Festival del Caribe también es conocido como la Fiesta del Fuego y entre sus actividades se desarrollan debates, talleres, conferencias, mesas redondas y otras muchas que incluyen bailes y cantos en las plazas y parques de toda la ciudad.
El punto final que marca la conclusión de la fiesta es la Quema del Diablo. Esta ceremonia es precedida por un desfile de las agrupaciones culturales presentes por toda la céntrica calle Aguilera, rumbo a la Alameda, a orillas de la Bahía santiaguera.
Muy cerca del mar cada año se levanta un inmenso muñeco elaborado a base de fibras vegetales y madera que representa al diablo y toda su maldad. Según el decir de algunos de los presentes, al quemarse el diablo se va con el la maldad y queda el camino despejado para esperar la nueva edición del Festival.

Every year in the first days of July, this city dresses of Carib and receives multiple cultural delegations of the countries of the zone. This year July 3 began here the International Festival of the Carib who assembled together more than 2 thousand guests of a score of countries.
Every year the edition of the Festival is dedicated to a country of the region and in this occasion this recognition was for the Dominican Republic.
The Festival of the Carib also is known as the Party of the Fire and as part of his activities there develop debates, workshops, conferences, round tables and great others that include dances and singings in the squares and parks of the whole city.
The final point that marks the conclusion of the party is the Burning of the Devil. This ceremony is preceded by a parade of the cultural present groups by the whole central Aguilera street.
Closely together of the sea every year there gets up an immense doll elaborated based on vegetable fibers and wood that it represents to the devil and all his evilness. As according to say of some of the presents, on having burned the devil goes away with the evilness and the way stays cleared to wait for the new edition of the Festival.
