  • Anyone who thinks this band "isn't black metal enough" does so out of their own insecurity (also, the band doesn't care what you think at all, so all of your crying about how "gay" this music is stands as the utterly pointless sobbing of little babies).

If you are a slave to any genre you are still a slave.

  • This sucks. I'm not an elitist, I just enjoy listening to black metal that doesn't disgust me.

  • Liturgy owns and if you don't agree you simply aren't listening with the correct mindset. It's far more difficult to try to fill an already full cup with something new than it is to fill an empty one. Let go of what you think BM is and just listen to this as music.

  • @AquaTeenFan24 kill yourself

  • Black Metal is a genre based on rebellion, but with that rebellion comes a level of tradition and purity.

American Black Metal bands shouldnt try to make music that steps on the toes of the old european shit by being cliche(holding weapons in photos, generic corpse paint and trying to be overtly kvlt all the time)

USBM should always be a forward thinking genre...

but this.... This is spitting in its face.

This is just as disrespectful to a genre's roots as Pop-punk or Christian Death Metal.

  • I am not going to go so far as to call them, bad musicians. That drummer is stellar. Their musicianship is great, their writing is lacking in a major way but whatever.

HHH's little "black metal is too negative" ethos is silly as fuck.

Yeah, DSBM shit does get on my nerves, but at least some of that stuff has redeemable qualities musically.

Liturgy probably would've been in the clear if hunter hadnt made that whole retarded philosophy so public, but its begun to seem purely as a marketing ploy.

  • excellent band !

  • @sicknessuntoseth You need to look up the definitions of "interesting" and "black metal"; so far it doesn't look like you're familiar with either.

  • this is some of the most interesting "black metal" to come out since deathspell's new album. how dare the frontman express his ideas on the genre with confidence! what a fucking wanker, having opinions and shit. the backlash against this band just validates their ethos even more.

  • Blackmetal was started with the intent to rebel, like punk, but when all of a sudden people play blackmetal in a different way (read rebel against the old forms) the weaklings that call themselves "true blackmetalheads" think it's gay... nothing but a bunch of conformists that think they invented the hot water and have the right to determine what's good and what's not! Better go download some more Burzum records and let people enjoy whatever they want, dicks
