next solar eclipse in australia is 2008 februari or august something like that
-
Any one know when the next solar eclipse is in Australia
-
you bet you would be BBQ-ed
-
Because the sun is huge but it's very far away, and the moon is tiny and it's real close.
-
BBQ!!
-
Imagine if you were on the moon(facing the sun ) during a solar eclipse

The moon is 400 times smaller than the sun, but is also 400 times closer, so they just appear the same size in our sky. In future, as the moon is getter slowly farther away from earth, total eclipses like these won't be visible from earth anymore, only annular, or ring-like ones as the moon won't fully cover the sun.

Its just a coincidence.

It's not really exact. It depends where the earth is in it's elliptical orbit. If you pause this video right at the center, it appears the moon is a tad larger.

As the Hinode satellite is in orbit, its slightly closer to the moon than the earth is, so the moon appears slightly bigger.
