Playing with my "new" Yaesu FRG-7700. Wonderful audio from this classic rig listening to the 20 meter band. I fiddled with the ANC-4 noise canceler, but in this case, I don't think it was really needed. Next to it is a Panasonic-RF-2200, a great BCB DX radio.

  • Ive just found one(free) here at the marina.i need an antenna.any recommendations.thanx

  • @arkitype66 I have mine connected to my 75 meter doublet and works well. You could try a long wire or buy an indoor active antenna.I believe the FRG 7700 had an accessory called the FRA-7700. They show up on ebay every once in awhile

  • Very good...What antanna are you using ?

  • At the time I believe it was connected to my 75 meter doublet, fed with ladder line)

  • Hi I had a FRG7700 in the past but I found it was not very sensitive and overloaded easily(comparison with ICR 70).The FRG7 is better although it has one selectivity. Now I use 2 FRG7 and an ICR70 and a JRC NRD 525.DXEUR 77

  • I had an icom R71A, and yes that was more sensitive and great on SSB, but for some reason I prefer the audio on AM better on the FRG7700. I miss my Drake R8A, though which had great audio and a bunch of bandwidths for selectivity.
