You can rent all your life, renting is not necessarily a precursor to buying a home. By the time you pay taxes and interest on the mortgage and maintanence on your house you are paying 3x what it would cost to rent. Plus if you have to move you could take a loss on the house. Very little of the money spent on a house builds equity. In the USA if we were not force fed the idea that everyone HAS to buy a house we would not be in the financial straits we are today.
