After 24 hours in the Mater Children's Hospital, Judah smiles and talks for the first time in two days. By now the doctors had attempted four lumbar punctures (a needle in the spine to drain brain fluid) without success. Because they couldn't rule out meningitis, he was being pumped with three different antibiotics. Judah's smiles were short-lived, and we couldn't move him without him screaming.
