I bought a juvenile Firemouth today and put it in my tank (112 litre tank). As soon as i put him in he went up the back and floated to the top. So i got my net and moved it near him and he swam off perfectly fine, but now he's just behind my filter floating there not moving his fins. I don't get it my PH temperature is perfect 7.0 and 27 degrees. I recently put Stress Zyme and Melafix into the tank as well. Did your firemouth do this? Because I’ve read they can be timid.

@catsaretimtams good idea, send me a message when you get the chance

@BingX14 I quite like the malawi and tanganican cichlids but I really haven't chosen a specific type :P I think I am kind of crowding up your video though :P Maybe we should start messaging?
-
@catsaretimtams Have you thought about what kind of fish you want in there? like South American ciclids, Central American Cichlid, African cichlids, or other stuff?
-
@BingX14 Massive tank... I know what to stock the smaller one with now :P Thanks
-
@catsaretimtams haha i thought we covered that? Aren't you going to go with 1 oscar and 1 male firemouth? Or are you talking about stockings for the massive tank you mentioned?

@BingX14 Questions about what? If you know a lot about fish I would really like some advice on what to stock my tank with!

@catsaretimtams hey no problem! that sounds awesome make sure you throw a vid up when you get that massive tank! If you have anymore questions just let me know

@BingX14 Thankyou so much for your advice! I think I will get just 1 male firemouth with the oscar! Oh and it turns out that I am soon to be getting a 761 gallon tank! So I think I will be getting many more oscars and firemouths in the future!

@catsaretimtams As for sex, well you could go with either one nice Male firemouth and the oscar, or 2 females (females will grow even slower and stay smaller), OR you could have a male and female firemouth...but, you will most likely see breeding action if you do that which could cause problems because the oscar will want the babies and the FM's will act quite aggressively towards the oscar. You could have a male and female and just remove any eggs that are laid if you don't want to deal with it
That's the most beautiful firemouth cichlid that I've seen on YouTube. I'm planning on getting one soon along with a Cuban cichlid and a pair of convicts.
