Irish violin master Sean Maguire performing in a classic recording from his musical prime. He was regarded as one of the finest musicians ever to play the violin. Maguire's magnificent energy and tone were considered to be due to the prodigious fluency with which he was able to make his classical violin education and keen intuition for the art of music combine so well together. Like all great artists he believed his cultured work encouraged a more balanced existence. His God-given gift has had a profound influence on the development of music and of people throughout the world. His dynamic expressive interpretations display the dazzling technique he played with as a young man which is a joy to experience.

  • I suppose his spirit lives after him in the influence he's had on others. Further information and details of his recordings available on Wikipedia under Sean McGuire (Maguire).

  • 1971 as far as I know.

  • Nobody even comes close to Sean Maguire and nobody ever will. Luckily I have all his records and I never get tired of listening. RIP Sean.

  • really beatiful . thank you

  • McGuire pushed the boundaries ...this was not always popular at the time.

  • Thanks for posting this beautiful playing, a lot of those old outlet recordings from the 1970 were re-released on CD a while back, but they are getting hard to find again. Himself and Josephine keegan were a formidable duo.

  • @barbaragalvin It is passed on

  • The Wise Maid and The First month of summer about 1970 for Outlet.

  • Thanks for posting this.

He is one of many fine musicians whom I should have made the effort to see when they were alive. I wonder where such incredible talent goes when somebody like Sean Maguire or Seamus Creagh dies. Sorry for being mordid.
