The EF-5 tornado that struck the small town of Greensburg, Kansas on May 4th , 2007 caused complete destruction. Over 95% of the town was completely destroyed. This 5 minutes video diary by Mike Theiss of UltimateChase.com shows the destruction in Greensburg and example of why tornadoes are so dangerous and why it's important to get "underground".
How do people even survive in the basement? These houses were wiped away! Basements here were actually filled with rubble.

the widest tornado ever recored was about 3.75 miles wide. im a meteorologist and i study tornadoes. you can never really know what a tornadoes wind speed was. but based on the amount of damage im estimating that the geensburg tornado had a wind speed of at least 220mph. the highest wind speed that was recoreded in history was 318mph. there have probly been tornadoes with higher wind speeds but you can never know for sure.

Nice footage. Would have been nicer if you used some sticks.
Video Production 101. Always use a tripod whenever possible.

2nd widest? I know the Hallam tornado was the widest at 2.5 miles, and I think there have been other recorded tornadoes that were almost as wide as that.

@TheWaynelds when it was strongest at dusk it was a 2 mile wide tornado, its the 2nd largest tornado ever recorded and when it hit greensburg it was 1.75 miles wide

The train in the background at 0:57 seems to be oblivious to all the destruction.

another thing thats scary is that they have the weather warnings and doppler radar maps from the news stations on the night of the greenburg tornado with the weathermen saying that they,ve never seen radar signatures like that before and as theyre talking about the storm you can see it move closer and closer to greensburg. How big was it exaclty? i heard it was over a mile wide. Thats unimaginable!!

Reminds me of the Great Tri-State Tornado of 1925. You may see the actual damage from the Tri-State storm to compare, by just going to my channel here on Youtube and watching the video. This video you shot in Greensburg is absolutely incredible.
