Written in B minor, "E lucevan le stelle", from Tosca, is one of the most beautiful musical peace I've ever heard. Sung by Tosca's lover while waiting for his coming execution. The song is full of passion and melancholia that I thought it would be a perfect for video using just the episode May 4th since they both Olli and Christian died a bit that day.
The scenes performed by Thore and Jo are so intense and Plácido Domingo interpretation is so powerful (superb!!) that I don't think that subtitles are required.
I really hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Thanks to May for the clip used in this video.
My special thanks to Maria for her help and support.

To Jo Weil and Thore Schölermann for portraying such an amazing love story and make us dream about love ...

Song: "E Lucevan Le Stelle" from the opera "Tosca"
Composed by: Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa
Performed by: Plácido Domingo

(Italian)

E lucevan le stelle,
ed olezzava la terra
stridea l'uscio dell'orto
ed un passo sfiorava la rena.
Entrava ella fragrante,
mi cadea tra le braccia.
O dolci baci, o languide carezze,
mentr'io fremente le belle forme disciogliea dai veli!
Svanì per sempre il sogno mio d'amore.
L'ora è fuggita, e muoio disperato!
E non ho amato mai tanto la vita!

(English)

How the stars used to shine there,
How sweet the earth smelled,
The orchard gate would creak,
And a footstep would lightly crease the sand.
She'd come in, fragrant as a flower,
And she'd fall into my arms.
Oh! sweet kisses, oh! lingering caresses,
Trembling, I'd slowly uncover her dazzling beauty.
Now, my dream of love has vanished forever.
My last hour has flown, and I die, hopeless!
And I have never loved life more!

  • Bellisimo!!!!

  • Oh my God, you've used a great music!! So touching, breathtaking, beatiful and sad... Thank you for this video!

  • Wonderful work darling! You have a great music taste. Levine is one of the best musical directors ever and what I can say about Domingo, one in a million! So sad to see our guys in this situation, and the things doesn't seem to improve much in a near future. I only hope that that final shot at both sides of the door means that they are destined to be together and forever. Hugs

  • You deserve every wonderful comment you have received. Your videos are Beautiful. I always enjoy watching your videos and love your choice your music. I hope you continue making them for months and years to come. Thanks Luca :)

  • Domingo's performance, SUPERB!!!!!!! The title, a testimony of the relationship between Christian & Olli from the beginning to now. Great job!!! The music is hypnotic!!!! Their relationship surreal!!! Now what is left is the "happy ending" that all of us are dearly praying for.

Such much PASSION in this song!!!!!!!

Thank you for creating this video and sharing it with us.

  • i think this scene is their best ever. Jo acting managed to portray how Olli is so confused about his trust for Christian. He love him so much but can't love him anymore than a slight uncertainty of Christian's still lingering love for the opposite sex. As a result, he can't show any happiness in his face.

  • I don't know what to say................mere words fail me!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Gail xx

  • How did I miss this video?

Really enjoyed the mix of stills and moving scenes which worked so well with the intensity of the music. My heart was aching watching their pain... Thanks for a wonderfully touching video Luca xx
