being perfect is a figment of imagination. by being mere mortals we cannot achieve perfection.

(cntd) the trouble is we all have our own ideas of what perfect actually is. for some pornography is straight from the mouth of hell, others feel that those who consume alcohol are the devils spawn, while those that have sex out of wed lock might as well prepare for the firey prongs of hell. these same people are also able to cheerfully bomb the bloody hell out of towns where they have no right to be, or stand back and let their neighbours suffer in poverty.

this song is about faith. I have stuff to get off my chest and this song is the best place to illustrate it. if i believe in god, and i think i do, it is not one that has been illustrated and organised by any religion. i believe that if god is love it is an understanding that people make mistakes. if god is love there is room for growth. if god is love it means to me that we are accepting of all beings. if god is love there must be recognition that mere mortals are far from perfect.
