Why go to the middle of nowhere when you could go to the middle of London? said the advertisements for the dockland's authority in 1981.
When I came to London in 1980 it looked totally different but this is another major success of the Thatcher government.
To walk round today, one would not believe how it was at the beginning of the 1980s.
A piece of London that is off the tourist route yet should be added. A journey on the DLR is a wonderful experience of urban rejuvenation.
And the music is from Live and Let Die when Bond is going 'uptown' in New York. I thought the image apt!

i lived in Brockely (lewisham ) for 2,5 years, its 10 min ride by bike to Greenwich, I do love Docklands! Canary Wharf is the place where i want to live in the future... now i'm in Poland and miss London very much...

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at Canary Wharf!  You can get the best salad ever at Pret à Manger sandwich bar. (Try the chicken and avocado or prawns and avocado) They had fashion shows all day long on Saturday in both shopping malls with clothes for both men and women. There's such a buzz there! It's great!
