  • Where's the Sarusaphone? And I guess the French still love Bechet.

  • @benmillerintx Thanks. The sousaphone is the Father of the two girls .

  • @benmillerintx I got the joke! :) I wonder how many actual bass-sarusaphone-recordings there are. The Clarence WIlliams version of this tune is indeed the most famous one. :)

This was a very nice version - with or without sarusaphone.

  • I love what the drummer is doing! Clarinet is masterful, & banjo is in the right place!

  • oh yeah... great ending.. and of course , the whole performance is really nice..

I saw them a few years ago in Szeged, Hungary.. gorgeous authentic interpret...

  • Bechet did not play a susaphone, but rather a sarusaphone which is an obsolete reed instrument that had a very limited and short-lived use. it produced a very deep sound. if you look up sarusaphone on wikipedia, you will see that Bechet's use of the instrument is one the most outstanding in history and he uses it exstensively for soloing on an early recording of many make up your mind. And mentioning it was a bit of a joke because no one plays it anymore.

  • I like "weatherbird" by Dutch Swing College - I think the Dukes of Dixieland copied these guys.

  • Is there currently a jazz group anywhere which is as good to listen to as the Les Jazzticots?

Each of these individuals is an accomplished performer and they play brilliantly and engagingly as a unit.

  • Where did you learn that trade of playing better than most all stars. so together.Just unbelievable. Thanks you! Is Jean Marcel the "papa" or the "frere".I started a special playlist on my youtube site of Aurelie's postings from the different postings. I just love her playing, wow!
