do you need to be able to speek mandarin or taiwanese to tech english in taiwan?

No, you don't. Classes are usually alternated with a local teacher who is in the classroom while the foreigner teaches. Having said that, both teachers will only speak English while teaching in order to create an immersion environment.

worldlybrit, I made this video. I have taught for Hess. I no longer work for them and am free to say what i want. The kids were not hand picked, I simply choose a teacher who had a good reputation and filmed one of his classes. Hess has more than one language system, the one featured here is completely different than listen and reapeat, it depends on having a good teacher, but with one it can be awesome as is shown here by this completely unscripted calss!
