I must beg to differ about the Anglican Church being a 'via media'. Actually a careful reading of the 39 Articles points to a 'sola scriptura' approach to the Christian Faith. The Councils and the Apocrypha books were to be accepted if they were in accord with the 39 Books of Holy Scripture. Early Anglicans left the doctrines concerning St. Mary the Blessed Virgin up to individual conscience. In that they were radical; early Protestants followed the medieval Catholic doctrine.

The 39 Articles don't support Sola Scriptura, but implicitly reject it as per Articles VI, XX and XXI. Article VI starts off "HOLY Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation". This wording, as a logical construct, allows for things outside of scripture to be a source of soteriological doctrine as long as it doesn't contradict scripture.

@MapleAnglican In terms of the Councils, you are correct as only the first four (Nicea, Constantinople, Ephesus, and Chalcedon) are accepted in their entirety. The Fifth council, Second Constantinople, is only partially rejected due to canons related to the Perpetual Virginity of the BVM (if I recall), while I am unaware for the reasons the Sixth and Seventh (Third Constantinople and Second Nicea) are not accepted in their entirety.
