Using linux kind of requires you to have spelling and typing skills above that of a 6 year old.

@SMGJohn My apologies. Your comment did not come off as the sarcasm, you intended. The "GO LINUX!" makes it sound like you appreciate the cumbersome steps you have to go through to install a program, especially if you have to download the program as a tar.gz and install it.

@mikeami68 I think you miss understood my comment very badly. If you read again I clearly said that Windows made us lazy which it does, clearly you don't do allot to install a software. On Linux you do, your forced to remember many codes and installation methods cause of the different file types in Linux. Windows is all automatic cause you only have to select where, how and then next and it's done. Such things isn't implented in Linux yet

@SMGJohn LMFAO! yes that is why computers were invented, not to make life easier, but to constantly challenge us, so that we have to learn how to jump through hoops to get done what we want accomplished. What moronic backward tech worl do you live in. Computers were made to make task (life) easier, and "easier" is the most intuitive, method possible. This is why people who bought netbooks with linux on them returned them.

Wow! yes having to know code is much easier than clicking on an exe file. Even at free, Windows and Apple OS are still preferred by the mass majority. Mostly because they are intuitive, and you can use them without having to open a command prompt.

Windows makes us lazy? Why not say cars make people lazy? planes? elevators? These wide people's sight. Because they are convinience. This does not mean lazy.

@CoverlessTech How did you get gimp on the list there? Whatever I type doesn't show up, do you have to do something before this?
-
@MartinPerssonDotName Linux is easy to use, it just takes getting used to, just like windows did the first time you used it.

Thank you so much ....

Thank you so much man, I just instaled linux and this really helped.
What I don't like it about this, is that it's useless without internet.

@Trinivalts That is true for most operating systems these days. How do you get the latest version of Firefox? On the internet, I know no other way. If you have the .deb .rpm or heck some people use .sh files for installing you can install without the internet.

so if I get this right sudo apt -get "application name" downloads and installs the programm you want? Does it get the latest version of it and how do update the software when needed?

@SerThugalot It will download the newest version in the distributions repository. And will find and install updates itself(once they are posted to the repository).
