What caused the OSO Washington Mudslide ?
See for yourself. This is my thinking and I am not an "expert"
But think for a moment how the "experts" continually FAIL at their jobs or are muzzled by governmental mandates that are designed to exploit our natural resources with very little oversight. Especially when BIG $ and Industry are involved. Cutbacks to certain govt regulatory agencies can have SERIOUS repercussions as well .. But you watch and decide for yourself.
WHY wasn't something done about this in 2006 after the first HUGE slide. Why was slope consolidation not on anyone's radar back then? Well the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers actually did in 1999 they gave a warning that there was indeed "the potential for a large catastrophic failure."
So how could building permits continue to be issued under the slide area and why was logging allowed to continue above???
No one is going to admit openly especially not the local government. That is why there are a select group of litigators known as "Landslide Lawyers" I believe the people killed and hurt in this mudslide deserve answers from their local officials and if they can't get any then should search out a Landslide Lawyer.
By the way John Pennington, head of Snohomish County's Department of Emergency Management is a complete$!@@X@! HERO
he stated in a press conference: "It was considered very safe," Pennington said. "This was a completely unforeseen slide. This came out of nowhere." This is a BOLD FACE !@X@!!~^
Fact is slides on this slope go back to the 1930's and are very well documented in numerous reports. Interestingly logging dates back to that time too.
Snohomish County Executive John Lovick and Public Works Director Steve Thomsen said Monday night they were not aware of the 1999 report. "A slide of this magnitude is very difficult to predict," Thomsen said. "There was no indication, no indication at all."
These three are in need of promotions for their moral standing and character, They are great men who should be lauded as heroes for
the lives they might have saved. For their well read historical expertise and reassurance and comfort they provided to all the residents victims and voters who lived in that area.
Boys you are the best! A rare breed in government today. You need to be congratulated. and let me be the first to say you deserve anything coming your way.
